Schema Therapy

Schema Therapy targets deep belief–emotion patterns (schemas) formed when early needs were unmet, integrating cognitive, experiential, behavioural, and relational techniques. It does not diagnose; formulation belongs to the clinician.

Concepts include early maladaptive schemas, modes, triggers, limited reparenting, and imagery work. The therapist tracks mode shifts and calibrates intervention depth.

The clinician offers warm limited reparenting—softening coping modes while enabling safe access to vulnerable child modes. Sessions may be structured yet emotionally deep.

Often chosen for chronic repeating cycles; acute crisis care is separate. No automated diagnosis or medication advice is implied.

Longer work is common; cultural context cautions schema labelling.

In PsychSupervisor, Schema Therapy frames reports on modes, triggers, and intervention balance as decision support.

How it appears in the app

In PsychSupervisor you choose Schema Therapy as the theoretical frame when opening a case; the session transcript is read through that lens. The report is organised under five standard headings: Session Overview Summary, Developmental Assessment, Session Evaluation, Theory-Based Evaluation of Therapist Interventions, and Recommended Therapy Plan. After speaker roles are assigned, text is structured in the selected approach; evidence-mode sections stay tied to the transcript, while narrative-mode sections may summarise flow. Outputs support supervision and record-keeping as clinical decision support; they do not assign diagnoses, prescribe medication, or replace emergency care. The clinician verifies the transcript and retains final clinical judgment.
